“Maximize your talent, raise the bar, believe in yourself, elevate your teammates, win the mental battle, mastering yourself.”
“These are ALL things we want to do as an athlete. How do we do them? What is the next step to the better you? How will you separate yourself among the elite?
These are all sayings and questions that I ask myself as an athlete because I want to get the most out of myself. I’ve been told the man in the mirror is my biggest competitor and nothing has held more true in my 10-year career as a professional athlete (NFL, CFL). I am an athlete that will flip over any and every stone I can to gain that small advantage in the endless pursuit to master myself. This led me to grow in the area of mental performance. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Chantale Lussier in 2018 during my season with the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL. To call her a “game changer” would be to put it light. We covered topics ranging from my mental health, past failures and how they shape and affect me today, sustained excellence, mental battles I didn’t even know I had, and how to maximizing my own and my teammates abilities. In my first conversation with her, I knew she would be a person that would take my game to the next level and she did that and some more. I was in a rut when I first went to Dr. Lussier and became my authentic self, led with purpose and started crushing my own mental barriers that held me back.
In all my years as an athlete, I’ve never been around someone that can relate in multiple ways to any subject or issue I have brought to her. There are not many people that I can unequivocally say are doing what they are put on this planet to do and she is one of them. I don’t know where my career will lead me but after the strides I made in the beginning stages of her program, I can undoubtedly tell you I will seek her no matter where I am. Trustworthy, honest, relatable, authentic, passionate, you name it and Dr. Lussier has that positive impactful quality. She is simply an advantage for me and a blessing to know and work with. I would advise anyone that is looking to better their mental health, performance or quality of life to work with her.”
