“Every year you go through struggles, you have your ups you have your downs, and this year I had struggles, on the court, and I felt like mentally I was a little bit exhausted of struggles.”
“I just wanted to be successful. I just wanted everything to go well and when things didn’t go well it was really tough for me. But just having Chantale there to meet with every week kind of just gave me a different perspective on stuff and really just didn’t allow me to just give up on trying to get better and trying to persevere through those tough times…
I mean this season probably the biggest thing was just trying to get me to understand how to have my own confidence… The biggest issue I have on the court is I get really scared. Like, a lot of the times I don’t like to admit it… But I think with her it was kind of just like admitting to myself like “OK, yeah that issue is there”, now how are we going to tackle that and how are we going to get better from that. Because instead of trying to hide from the reality, kind of trying to face it and trying to find ways to attack it…
I think with Chantale it was just kind of the comfort I had with talking to her about the situation… I think just her open-mindedness, her kind heart obviously, and the biggest thing is her passion for helping people.”
“I can relate to people who have passion about stuff because obviously I have passion about things that I do, and coming in here and just seeing how passionate she is about trying to help me and how passionate she is even about helping other people – like that kind of really related with me and I think that was probably the biggest factor in how she could help me… I would consider her my secret weapon… I just think long-term, it’ll help me in all aspects, not just basketball, but like whenever any situation kind of gets tough or is like a new situation for me, I’ll have the tools she’s given me to go into those situations just a little bit more prepared.. I mean it’s tough to put into words how much she’s impacted me… I think she’s great. I’d advocate for her any day of the week.” (Excerpt from interview with Time out with the Twins)
